Business Development Lead – Technology & Support
Who you’ll be joining
We’re problem solvers at heart. Sometimes the answer is technology, sometimes it is strategy, and sometimes it is a strong cup of tea and a bit of thoughtful conversation. Whatever it takes, we work it out with our clients.
We’re an IT consultancy that helps organisations get the best out of their technology. That means keeping them secure and keeping the bad guys out, making sure everything works and is easy to use, and doing smart things with data and software to give their business an edge. It is important work, and we care about doing it well and for the right reasons.
Life at Waterstons is friendly, flexible and built on trust. We hire people who are curious, thoughtful and good at getting to the heart of a problem. You get support, trust and room to grow in a place that still feels human. The unlimited holidays and private healthcare are a nice touch, although most people stay because it feels like the right place to do good work with good people.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a new role, and it matters. You will take ownership of business development for our Technology & Support division, building and driving a pipeline that converts into meaningful work.
You will spend your time out in front of clients and prospects, starting conversations, shaping opportunities, and winning work. Alongside this, you will play a key role in helping us clearly and simply explain what we do and how we deliver value to clients.
You will focus on driving growth across Managed Services, Technology projects, and recurring revenue, working closely with technical teams, marketing, and other Business Development Leads to identify and close opportunities.
This role can be based in Durham, Glasgow, or London. The salary range is £60,000–£80,000 in Durham and Glasgow, and £70,000–£85,000 in London.

What we're looking for
If some (or most) of the following sound like you, we'd love to hear from you:

Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders such as CIOs, CTOs, and IT Directors
Strong track record of building a pipeline and converting opportunities into revenue
Experience leading pre-sales conversations and contributing to proposals or tenders
Ability to work closely with technical teams to shape solutions that clients want to buy
Commercial awareness and the ability to turn conversations into tangible outcomes
Experience supporting marketing activity, such as events, campaigns, or thought leadership, is a bonus
